This will either enable or disable timestamps.

From here you can select/deselect: 'Enable timestamps on chat windows'.

This will either enable or disable notification messages.

From here you can select/deselect: 'Show leaves/join conversation notifications'.

Select: Tools > Preferences > Advanced Tab.

To control which notification messages are displayed: Messages The Message field can display notification messages such as the contact closing the window, timestamps for each message, or even ignore the remote user's selected fonts and instead use only your own.

Alert Fields - Displays certain messages received from the MSN server.

Display Pic - Displays either yours or the remote user's display pic.

Input Field - Displays typed message that is to be sent.

Messages - Displays all sent and received messages.

The Header - Displays the remote user's nickname and email.

Understanding the Message Window The Message Window is composed of five parts.

Tools > Admin Groups > Delete Group > Group Name.

Tools > Admin Groups > Rename Group > Group Name > Group Name.

Tools > Admin Groups > Add Group > Group Name.

Tools > Order Contacts By > Groups or Hybrid.First you must be in 'Groups' or 'Hybrid' mode.

The 'Hybrid' mode is simply mix of the 'Groups' and 'Status' modes - you have your contacts organised into the same groups, but there is a separate 'offline' group, where all offline contacts are shown. If you change back to 'Status' mode, don't worry, you don't lose your groups! You can just switch back to 'Group' mode to see them again. However, you can create your own groups, and sort contacts into them as you wish. The standard set of groups for a new msn account is 'Friends', 'Family', 'Co-workers' and 'Others'. The 'Group' mode allows you to have your contacts separated into groups. Offline contacts are shown in the Offline group, sorted alphabetically. Online contacts are shown at the top of the Online group, followed by 'busy' and 'on phone' contacts, then contacts set to 'away', 'be right back', 'gone to lunch' and 'no activity'. There are two separate groups for this mode online and offline. The 'Status' mode orders your contacts on the contact list by their status.
